After reading many of the articles/requests placed on this list I have a
question that does not pertain to an individual but to an item that was given
to me. It is an African Prayer Board and I know nothing about it other than
a friend of mine gave it to me.
The story goes that her parents were missionaries to Africa for many, many
years. Their children were born in the United States but traveled with their
parents and spent much time there. When my friends father had to retire and
was about to leave Africa he was given this Prayer Board as a gift. It is a
beautiful piece of art, hand carved and is in excellent condition.
My Priest was overcome when he first saw it and wanted to buy it from me but
as it was a gift from a special friend I refused. I have look everywhere to
find information on this item and have had no luck. If there is anyone on
this list that can shed a bit of light on African Pray Boards and their
meanings, I would love to have you contact me. Thanks, George EDE
