There is of course Sophie Jewell (E not I) nurse who did such wonderful
things in Kimberley during the siege. And lived after that in Oudtshoorn as
matron of the Royal South West hospital Born in London daughter of H.
Jewell. Her history has been collected by the Jewish Archives in London
there is a photo of her in "women of South Africa 1913"
