Dear Friends in Genealogical Research
After reading Anns comments I cannot resist the following.
Way back in 1935 on the signing of my Articles to enter the field of Civil Engineering the City Engineer emphasised this in his commanding voice
Williams you will report to this office on the ist July and your salary will be 36 pounds per annum....this will rise to 60 pouinds provided you show dilligence, progress and aptitude.......To think that I came from the home of a farrier..my Dad...whose wages were 3pounds per week.....and the rent of our house was 18shillings per month.......One cannot compare but it is fun to look back
God bless you all......Les W. the 86 year young Gen. Nut
