Hi all those who have been corresponding around this topic. I am coming in
on round 2, so to say, as at the time that Anne originally posted this I was
away spending time on this very Mount Melsetter, in the company of Candy, my
sister, and Mike. They would be delighted to know that they have been the
topic of conversation as any "marketing" they can get in their new
hospitality venture is welcome. I can vouch that anyone who is able to
visit them sometime will enjoy their stay. Regarding Candida Alice's
genealogy and our father Richard Pringle Southey, Paul Tanner-Tremaine has
nailed it exactly in his posting on Mount Melsetter on this list - thanks
Paul.
Anne, where did you pick up this story about Mount Melsetter?

Former Port Elizabeth couple Mike and Candy FERRAR live in the Karoo.
Mike was an attorney and Candy was an industrial nurse, but now they run a
guest farm and hunting safari operation.
For Candy, the move was a return to the farm of her birth - Mount
Melsetter. Her father, Richard SOUTHEY, acquired the farm after the war,
from the estate of C.B. LOVEMORE (there's a Melsetter Road in Port
Elizabeth's suburb of Lovemore Heights) and subsequent purchases of land,
were given to her three brothers. Mount Melsetter, between Middelburg and
Steynsburg, still belongs to Candy's eldest brother, David. The large Karoo
farm was once a working sheep farm.
