Hi Sharon,

The book was 'Going Solo' - an account of Roald Dahl's experiences with the
Shell Company in Tanganyika and then his flying career during WWII
He describes visiting a District Officer who has been sent a recording of
Beethoven's Third Symphony on two HMV records and mentioned that he was
using thorn needles instead of steel so as not to wear out the grooves. The
first time I had heard of thorn needles and twice in one day!

Judy...........that brave soul from Perth W.Australia who fearlessly walked
the paths of Maitland Cemetery with a trembling Anglican priest.
