Thank you for quick reply! Another question. I located the appeal on the National Archives website (Transvaal territories). I have found other criminal cases listed in the National Archives as well. They are stated in the archives in the following manner:
TAB
SOURCE WLD
TYPE LEER
SYSTEM 01
REFERENCE 245/1931
PART 1
DESCRIPTION CRIMINAL CASE. REX VERSUS WILLEM VISSER AND PHILIP RICHARD LEE.
STARTING 19310000
ENDING 19310000

I know that my RC Lee was sentenced in December, 1953, yet in a search from 1949 to 1955, I can find no reference to his case. Dennis states that cases decided by a magistrates court are not indexed in the archives. What makes the above case different from the case I am seeking? Wouldn't all criminal cases be tried in a magistrate's court?

Thanks,
Liz W.

Good afternoon List,
Dennis was kind enough to locate a file for me that concerned an appeal for a RC Lee. Apparently, he has been imprisoned for some unknown offense and had his appeal refused. The document names the case as REGINA v. RC LEE. Does Regina mean anything to anyone from the area? Would it indicate a govt. institution or area? The case is also referenced as REX v. RC LEE. Any help would be appreciated.

Warmest regards,
Liz
