Gey van Pittius is certainly an unusual name, but I have heard it
before -- it is not the sort of name you forget, but of course you tend
to forget the connection in which you heard it! So I looked it up in
Wilkins and Strydom's "The Broederbond", and there it was: D M Gey van
Pittius, aged 39, Vaalwater Primary School, Onderhoof, joined the
Naboomspruit branch in 1967. However, I'm sure my recollection is of
his being one of those who, like Christiaan Frederick Beyers Naudé,
started off being a very nationalist theologian but later recanted and
became a liberal. I can't confirm this feeling because he is not listed
in the index of Colleen Ryan's biography of Beyers Naudé.

Can anyone confirm this? If it is true, it would be a worthy subject
for study, and if, as seems likely, Nico is related to him, he might
like to undertake it.
