Hi Ralph, Don, Sharon and others,
The surname interest page at my website is aimed at allowing people
researching the same surnames to make contact with one another.
Nothing could be more frustrating than spending years researching
your family and then discover that others have done most of the
research already.
With regard to Don and Sharon, your submissions are there, you
simply need to look in the correct place.
When I receive requests to add surnames to the website I accumulate
them until I have 100 or so and then add them to the fist surname
interest page. I can then copy and post them to the list to show
subscribers which new entries have been made since the last
submission and of course, this helps visitors to know which are new
entries and which are old.
I then wait for another 100 or so emails and then one fine day, decide
to update the website. I first transfer the last update entries to the
relevant initial letter surname page - for example ADAMS will be moved
to the A surname page and so on, which is what happened with the
entries made by Sharon and Don.
I then add the new names, copy the page to let the list know what new
entries have been made, and so the process continues.
The only problem that I have experienced so far is that people who
have submitted information change their email addresses and don't
notify me to update their entries and then people can't contact them.
Maybe some bright computer boffin can help me with advice on any
programmes that one could get that would check all the emails on the
pages at the site and then any bounced messages would indicate that
the person is no longer contactable and their entry should be deleted.
Any assistance greatly appreciated.
