I received this messsage from Inez in Australia and don't really know
how to assist her. Maybe the references to the unit provide a hint but I
have no idea.

I have an"Application for a War Medal" in my possession

It was sent to my grandfather, MARTIN SPANGLER, QUEEN ST EAST, BENDIGO, Victoria, Australia

marked "Application for Medal, Boer War, 1899 - 1902.

Sender:- O.H.M.S. O.C. Discharge Depot, S.A.M.I.F., Main Barracks, CAPE TOWN

Postmark:- Sept.11, 1905.

Martin Spangler never returned to Australia, & I am trying to find traces of him in SA.

Any Suggestions?
