I'd like to thank everyone who responded to my original question.

I asked the question so that I could put the dates in my Meintjes family
history.

There are many who "fell" as soldiers in supposedly noble causes, but so many
more innocents. I have examples of families where most members perished in
the Concentration Camps of the Anglo-Boer War. Mothers and their children.
