Listers,
What do you think?
My Grandfather died in Dealesville, and is buried in Fauresmith. My
Great-Grandfather died (on the steps of the Supreme Court) in Bloemfontein,
and is buried in Fauresmith. The family register has, for both, "+
Fauresmith".
I came across a family which is buried in Vryheid, Natal. For two of them,
the gravestones say "Died in Pretoria", but the family register says "+
Vryheid".
In my Father-in-Law's obituary, the stated place of death is actually his
place of residence - he died at a hospital in a neighbouring town, and his
ashes are interred in Detroit, 900 miles away.
I know there is no answer to this one. But, I had always assumed that +
<place> was place of death; henceforth I will assume it may likely be place of
burial, or even place of residence at time of death.
Best wishes,
Keith
