If you are talking of Ladismith Cape, there was a Murdoch (spelling?) Crafford. He was the town clerk for more than my childhood years - and not the mayor. Phone the Kannaland Municipality in Ladismith - they should have the details.

I am not sure what the question is.

The Crafford family is Dutch. They are in SA Genealogies 1, p. 672-3. It
does not include the connection you give below, but Dirk and Helena Josina are
family names.

Harry Willliam James Stidworthy's Estate Papers are in the SA Archives. Let
me know if you need help to search NAAIRS, the archives index.

It should be easy to find an e-mail address for the Municipality of Ladysmith,
where you can ask about their mayors.
