I hope someone can help me get over this brick wall.

I'm trying to find a Robert Elder who married Agnes Campbell 1876 in Alexander Dumbartonshire.
I've looked on Scotland's 1881 census, but must be looking in the wrong place!! cannot find them.
They had a son
William b: 1878 Old Kirkpatrick County Dumbarton
Agnes ?
Robert ?
James ?
Annie ?

They went to South Africa, when, I don't know, was it before the 1881 census & where their children other than William born in South Africa.
