When did that happen? It must have been fairly recent, because BMD
registration started becore the Commonwealth, and each colony had its own
system,. What was useful for genealogists was that the eastern colonies
adopted the Archer system, and have much fuller recrods than the others, and
certainly much fuller records than the South African ones.
