What name and date needs checking ?

They were published from 1858

Something more than John SMITH in the 1800's would be nice <g>

If he was an Anglican clergyman, he'll be in the volumes of Crockford's
Directory for the relevant years, with some more biographical details. They
aren't online, but are in numerous libraries.
