Hi Tombi,
I have had wonderful information from the SANDF even a
photograph of my uncle who was permanent force, together with all his
records.
I have a friend who has photographs and details of the medals handed out
during WWll, if you need help with this.
Regards Fay

Subject: [ZA-EC] SAAF
Hi everyone,
As my father left me all the information on his Army Service I haven't had
to research anything like this before. A newly found cousin who lives in
Australia has told me her father enlisted in the SAAF during the 2nd World
War.army record.
The information I'm looking for is of my first cousin, Gerald Robert Irwin
DEES born 9th January 1925 'Rietfontein', Tarlton, Transvaal died 4th June
2001 U.K.
I imagine he couldn't have enlisted until he turned 18 in 1943.
I would be 'maternally' grateful (sorry, one of my mother's 'funnies') if
any of you could help me with this!
I'd always felt sorry for my grandmother having to worry about 3 sons in the
services, I hadn't realised that she also had to worry about a grandson as
well!!
Best wishes,
Tombi Peck
