Hello Jeremy and Pat,
Many thanks for your replies to my query concerning Cornish miners in South America. I had been aware of the emigration of Cornish miners to Australia in the 18th century, to develop a variety of opencut and underground mines in a variety of places throughout the country and I expect they went to South America for similar reasons. My Penhallurick lot returned to UK after 5-7 years then off again to Australia. They settled in Ballarat and mined for gold. A descendant eventually becoming the mayor of that city in the mid 1900's. I was curious to find out where in South America they were located and what they mined etc. I shall take you advise and subsribe to the Cornish Mailing list. Thanks again. Geoff Wood
