On many visits to a friend's estancia house in recent years,
I admired a map she had hanging on the wall of the farm
office.
Recently I had the opportunity to copy down the details that
interested me. The title of the map was:
Plano de la Region Limitrofe de las Provincias de Santa Fe,
Córdoba y Buenos Aires Dated: Rosario 1895/8 Construido
por agrimensor Rodolfo A Warner.
In other words this was a map of the central area of the
Argentine pampas, giving the names of all the principal
landowners against their holdings, including many English
surnames.
I abstracted them by districts named after the nearby town,
as follows.
