Questions you raise are difficult to answer. I suppose that Eliza. could have
married a second time, to Maderna, in which case any surviving record would
indicate "viuda". Or there could have been more than one Eliza. Ridley,
perhaps related. Whatever is the case, it seems unlikely that there were many
Eliza. Ridley's in B.A. at that time.
As to further research, if you knew where the child of the Ridley/Maderna
marriage was baptised, it is possible that the actual marriage took place in
the same church, and marriage records might give further information. The
registers of the Anglican and the Presbyterian Churches could be accessible,
but an RC marriage might be much more difficult to trace, since there were
many churches. Also, the 1869 census for Buenos Aires, held in the National
Archives, might be very useful, but I do not think there is an index, so it
would be a very time-consuming search.
