JOHN PEARCE a miner, originally from St. Austell, Cornwall, Eng. known to
have worked in Morro Velho, Brazil. His wife's name was MARY ANN (JOB). 5
children were baptised there between 1851 ands 1860: ELIZABETH ANN, JOHN,
THOMAS, ELLEN, LOUISA. JOHN and ELLEN died and were buried at Morro Velho
Cemetery.
JOHN PEARCE SR. appears in the St. John Del Ray records in 1876 as a Mine
Mason and again in the work records in 1880. This may be a different John
Pearce because he would have been 77 years old if Census info of birth of
1811 is correct.
Also, WILLIAM HENRY PEARCE, possibly a brother to JOHN b. abt. 1828, also
worked at Morro Velho. He died at sea en route to St. Austell, Cornwall aged
49 in 1877.

Lorna - could you please tell us something about the surviving records of
the St John Del Rey company and where they can be accessed?
