Thanks for the reference to Mary E Moffat. Don't think she's one of my Moffatts as they were of Scottish rather than Irish origin I believe. Will note her however.
Thanks
Peter

Dear Julius
Thanks for your reply describing Adam Paterson Moffat.
As far as I know we was not related to my Moffatts (note the double t - they are very particular about that!).
I will note him and he may turn up a generation before my Moffatts.
Best wishes
Peter Walker

Dear Peter,
In my "books" I have an Adam Paterson Moffat as set to become a landowner (half of estancia Chaniaritos del Loco, near Frayle Muerto, nowadays Bell Ville, Córdoba province, Argentina) in 1867; whether he actually did and for how long, if he did, is uncertain. Later in 1873 Adam Paterson Moffat, probably then a resident in Córdoba city, acted as agent for owner
Francis(Frank) Lyttleton Holyoake-Goodricke in a land sale (part of estancia Monte Molino, some 8 leagues south of Frayle Muerto). Frayla Muerto (a very old village on the colonial Buenos Aires to Lima, Peru road) was then a still newish station (1866) of the Ferrocarril Central
(=Midland) Argentino railway line from Rosario (1863) to Cordoba (1870).
If you know anyting more about this A. P. Moffat y would be very keen to know!
Regards, Juan Delius
