KAYS - HARRIS - FERGUSON, Barren & Monroe Co.'s KY, early 1800s:

Sarah KAYS (c.1784-bef.1850) m. 2-14-1805 Francis HARRIS (1774/76 -
aft.1850) (mar. by Rev. John Mulkey, prob. Mill Creek Church or Old Mulkey
Meetinghouse). Francis Harris b. ca.1774/76 NC, son of John HARRIS (served
entire Revolutionary War, of Lincoln Co. NC, wife of John Harris unknown, at
least to me!). Francis Harris purchased land 8-19-1816, Barren Co., from
Matthew and Nancy Campbell, located "on East Fork of big Barren River", "on
Christopher Gist's line", "on Grider's line". Francis Harris' father John
Harris was granted land 1799 at Mill Creek.
Was Sarah KAYS (wife of Francis Harris) related to George Kays (Keys),
who was ca.1799 an early settler of Sulphur Lick, Barren Co. (now Monroe),
KY? Mrs. George Keys is buried on land granted to George Keys, where White
Cemetery is located. Were they George Keys b. ca.1765 VA and wife Mary
"Polly" (Huffman) Keys; and were they the parents of Sarah Kays (wife of
Franics Harris)? Was this Kays/Keys family allied with Gatewoods of Fayette
Co. KY?

Mill Creek Church, founders of Skaggs Creek Church; Sparrel was also a deacon
of Monroe Baptist Church.
