From Dr. Godbey's Diaries
Thursday, February 9, 1911
Was called out of bed at 1:20 AM last night to go see George Heatherby's
little boy. I went back to bed, tried to go to sleep, but couldn't. So I got
up at 2:30 AM, washed, got ready & skeddadled. Got back home 5:30, made fire
in cooking and heating stove. Peggie got up and cooked breakfast and I eat
about 15 biscuets. I went to Cave City, saw Dr. Ewing about my (unreadable).
I bought Jim a pair of bridle bits, pd. 1.00. Put 10.00 in bank.
My comments:
All right!! This time he "skeddadled" instead of "peddadled". And those must
have been some darn fine biscuits, 15 of them. I don't know of George
Heatherby.
