Made three calls today; 1st, Mr. George Holton; 2nd, Mr. Lewis Owens; 3rd, Mr.
Henry Simmons, to see the wives of all three. I rec'd a letter from my good
friend Joe W. Mulligan yesterday. Hallie got a letter from George this
morning. Crops are certainly humping it now with the good rains we have just
had and the warm weather. It is certainly making things grow. Attended
prayer meeting at Mrs. Evans. Cumpton put on spoke for front wheel today;
charged .15. Cheap!

My comments:
Thanks to Lyn Swan, we know about Lewis Owen, and we have met Henry Simmons
before, but George Holton is a new name for us. Anybody know him? Now, some
of you old timers (like me) may know about replacing a wheel spoke on a buggy.
For you "younguns", let me tell you it is no simple matter. One has to
practically disassemble the wheel in order to get the spoke into the hub and
the rim stave. 15 cents is cheap indeed!
