Here is what I see from my Barren Co resources.

1. John Love was with his parents, William and Polly Love in 1850
in Barren Co.
Mary Sloan was with her parents, Henry and Elizabeth Sloan, in
1850 Barren Co, living not far from the Loves.

2. Their marriage occurred at the home of Henry Sloan on 16 Jan 1855.

3. Their first two children were
a) Margaret Love 12 Mar 1856 Barren
b) James Love 7 Jun 1848 Barren

4. John Love and family are in Barren Co in 1860 (family 356, Dist 1).

5. John Love and family are in Barren Co in 1870, living in the same
place as in 1860, Hiseville precinct, family 269.

6. James was with John and Mary Love in 1860 and 1870 but not in 1880.
Mary's father, Henry Sloan, had died in 1876 (he is buried in Love
Cem in Baren Co) and his wife Elizabeth had apparently remarried
by 1880 (married Edward Gill). James Love and his sister Jennie
were living with Edward and Elizabeth Gill in 1880. Living next
door were James Love's grandparents, William and Polly Love. John
and Mary Love were living elsewhere in Barren Co in 1880.

Although it appears to me that Elizabeth Gill must be the widow
of Henry Sloan (James and Jennie are called her grandchildren in
the census), she is buried next to Henry Sloan in Love Cem under
the name of Elizabeth Sloan.
