On May 19 Sandi posted the following, from Book 4

Continuation of July 1812: John AUSTIN entered into bond as Constable with
Josiah SHORT and Landman SHORT his seurities. Same for Robert HAWTHORN;
security with James HUNT, Benjamin HAWTHORN & James HAWTHORN. Commonwealth
vs John BALDWIN charged with vagrancy. Brought into court in custody of the
Sheriff and jury empaneled: John BARRET, Wm GRAY, John CLACK, James FORBIS,
Chas MARTIN, Clement HITCH, John O MORRISON, Andrew CARPENTER, James WOOD,
John SMITH, James CARTER and James NEWELL. Found not guilty. Sam EVERETT,
Jesse EVERIT [sic] and Wm MARTIN paid for their testimonies. John TAYLOR
entered into bond with Joel YANCY and Wm RICHARDSON as Constable.

Can anyone tell me if Charles Martin was "on the jury" or was one of those
that were "brought into court in custody"? What for?

What does Wm MARTIN "paid for their testimoneis", refer to/mean?

Or can we not tell from what information there is?

Thanks, Chrystal
P.S. Is there anyone on the list that are researching these Martin's?
