Minutes referring to members etc. continued - 1806. Names spelled as shown.
Jan: Wm BUNCH excluded for disorderly conduct. A happy
reconcilliation has taken place between Joseph CRAWFORD
and James BROCK. Church waiting with Nancy SPECK
until next meeting; James SMITH & Thomas WOOD
to speak to her & tell her she is suspended for the present.
Feb: George BROWN moderator. Nancy SPECK restored.
J--- HELMS excloded for immoral conduct. Received
Saranah WILLIAMS by experience.
Mar: Church giving up members are an "arm" of the church on
Obey River to become a new church. Wm GOODSON,
Thomas SCOTT, Isaac DENTON & Thomas CROUCH to
attend to get the church constituted. Received by exp
Lucy ROBERTS.
Apr: Recvd by recantation Benjamin CAMPBELL. Samuel WOOD
requested to be released from duties as a deacon, ok'd.
Nathan BOND suspended.
May: Christian MYERS came forward & told the church he had
drunk spiritous liquors to excess, recanted & forgiven.
James BROCK "taken notice of by the church for keeping
up a charge agaisnt her by refusing to commune"; Isaac
DENTON, Thomas SCOTT, Wm GOODSON, Thomas &
Wm WOOD to visit him. Nathan BOND excluded for
immoral conduct in excess of fashion. (don't know what
this would mean). Judy LEE and Susanah LEIGHTON
received by letter.
Jun: Committee reported on Bro BROCK, he came to the
service to speak for himself, justified his conduct but
refuses to commune and was excluded. Received by
experience William GOODSON Jr and John PARMLEY.
Jul: Ann CRAWFORD excluded for joining another society.
Isaac DENTON, Wm WOOD and Wm GOODSON to see
her. Robert STOCKTON & Thomas WOOD to visit Betsy
GENTRY to bring her to the next meeting; Tom SCOTT &
Thomas WOOD to visit Patsey BROCK and request her
presence. Letter of dismission granted Gasper BRISTOW.
Aug: Those appt to visit Betsy GENTRY & Patsey BROCK
reported, were satisfied.
Sept: Recvd Mary FROGG by letter, Valentine COLLENSON
recvd under watch care. Letter of dismissiong granted
James WILLIAMS & wife Patsey. Same for Moses LEE
and wife Elizabeth.
Oct: Bro LEE excluded for going into another society. Wm BOND
informs the church that at a corn shucking he got into a
heat of fasion, conducted it wrong, apology received. Wm
ROBERTS & his wife, also Michael SPECK & his wife
granted letters of dismission. Martha JONES recvd by
letter but undesr consideration until Dec - re case of a
person marrying the 2nd time while first companion was
still living.
Nov: Sally WALKER granted letter of dismission. Jeremiah
WALKER laid under suspence due to a report of his
conduct on his moving journey.
Dec: Letter of dismission granted John ROBERTSON & Patsy
his wife. Benjamin CAMPBELL appt with Wm WOOD to
contract with Jacob MYERS for 2 aces of land in
addition to the one acre he is granting for use of the
church. Joel BROCK put on notice for encouraging a
shooting match at his house.
