Little Barren River Church of United Baptist Church was originally in
Barren Co until the formation of Metcalfe Co in 1860. The exact
location of the original church is not known but thought to be in the
Sulphur Well area. In the Barren Co Deed Book R, p. 559 we find the
following description: "on Little Barren River ... on a lot of ground
... bounded by ... trees! No other property owners' land was shown.
This deed was dated 8 May 1846 and signed by John BROCKMAN (seller)
with Jas G. HARDY and Richard ROBERTSON as witnesses.

In Barren Co Deed Book W, p. 167 another tract of land was given to
the church by Katherine CRADDOCK and the location of this land was
"on the East side of the South Fork of Little Barren River, west of
the graveyard.... east of the spring ... included the Bethel Meeting
House and graveyard. This deed was signed by Catherine/Katherine
CRADDOCK and witnessed by R P BEAUCHAMP & Abner BOSTON.

Minutes are scattered with membership listts inserted in various
locations. At a meeting on the first Saturday in August 1870 the
following members were dismissed: Lum HENDERSON, Lusety METHENY (?),
R. SILER and wife, Hyden OAKS and wife, B J, H G, J R & J M OAKES,
Sarah OAKES (now JEFFERS), N J OAKES (now CREFORD), R. SOUTH, J
MORGAN, Jas SMITH & wife, Catherine THOMPSON, Lela TRENT, Luann
YARLINSH, Wm PRICE & wife, Wm SOUTH & wife, Mary BOSTON and W. H. OAKES.

Then the pages jump back to the constitution of the church in 1841
and the following members are shown: William ERWIN (excluded),
