THE ADDRESS BOOK
Part one..

My address book is dogeared, covered with fingerprints and ink smears and even some lipstick on the corner where I held it in my mouth while searching for a pen to write down a new address. One of my Christmas gifts was a new address book. My daughter insisted that I enter all my numbers in my new book. I think she might be a bit ashamed of the old one.

It is not a task to take lightly. I know there will be many names that I will not be entering in the newbook. There is no need. .I have kept this book close to me for years and years. Every new person I met in my travels would find a place in my book if they were of interest to me and I wanted to keep in touch with them. There were many It has been like a security blanket , knowing I could contact someone should the wish or need arise, no matter where I might be.There will be many omissions as I go through and copy down names from A to Z.

Starting with the "As" there is Betty Adams. She is no longer with us. Her husband always throught that she and I were too close, often referring to us as the Bobbsey twins. He is gone, too. A plane crash on a vacation trip took both of them. I never got around to crossing them off in my book. Another "A", Jane Anderson moved away and never sent a new address. A somewhat absent minded person but always ready to help anyone in need. The old address is no good so no point in putting it in the new book.

Now the "Bs" Here I have Miriam Bowman She isn't a Bowman anymore. Her former husband now lives in another town and we have no contact Her new name is something I don'tknow how to spell starting with a Z. I don't know whereshe moved to so won't be putting her inmy new book.

I never knew many people whose name started with "C" so this section will be no problem . A Department store and one nice friend and co-worker.

The "Ds" will have a couple of deletions. A distant cousin who sometimes helps me with family research will remain. A n old friend from show business days will take up space. Both her names, real and show business will take up several lines. The old book shows her many addresses ,taking up a couple of pages. She taveled a lot!

A few names will be added to the "Es".Another friend who remarried who used to be in the "Ms". She will take her place with her new name. The Elementary School number is no longer on my needed list of numbers to call. My grandchildren go to another school in another city.

(Part two next.
