You said it all so well, better than I could have. I agree wholeheartedly with "love it or leave it". Our country isn't perfect, but I would rather live here than anywhere else that I could possibly think of.
Thank you for saying it so perfectly.

Subject: [SOUTHERN-CHAT] God Bless America.....
After this little rant I'm sure to be unsubbing from the list. For whatever reasons, I'm just puttin' this right out there for the world. I'm not going to respond to any flames or debate this since this is the way I feel on the issue and my mind will not be changed. Here's the deal:
I love America. I have traveled outside of the U.S. borders and know many people from foreign countries. There is no other country like this one. I thank (my) God every single day that this is my homeland, that I have so many freedoms and priviledges. I am a Patriot, as were my ancestors. I believe that if my ancestors (and yours too) had not fought and some died for the United States of America in any number of wars, we would not be chatting in our wonderful Southern Chat Room. This very well could have been the United States of Emperical Japan or we might be Goose Steppin' our way to the Food Line, who knows.
Whatever the U.S. of A. could have been, it wasn't and isn't - because our ancestors, our relatives, our grandpa's (and grandma's!), husbands, uncles, brothers fought for us; died for us; all of us.
These tremendously brave soldiers carried a Flag - a banner that represented the freedoms for which they would fight and die. To me, something that represents so much should not be disrespected - it should be held in high esteem as it was when the soldiers raised it at Iwo Jima.
When the Flag of the United States of America is raised or passes by, I am obliged to stand. I am also obliged to recite the Pledge of Alligiance and to place my hand over my heart when I sing our National Anthem. I am not minimizing the greatness of (my) God by these actions nor am I placing the Flag, the Country, or the National Anthem above God.
Recently I have heard every argument against honoring our Flag, saying the Pledge of Alligiance, and singing the National Anthem.
As far as I'm concerned, I don't want to ever hear from anyone that doesn't respect the U.S. of A. enough to honor it - for whatever reasons they have - religious, personal or otherwise; this includes email, letters, whatever. I'M SICK OF PEOPLE DISRESPECTING OUR COUNTRY!
paulette in sw fla usa - don't bother flaming me because I'm not going to respond.
God Bless the U.S.A. - Love it or Leave it
