Hello John,
Are you trying to go forward or back or both? Do you have access to census
records, as your James appears pretty easy to trace back in the census
records.
He appears to have left Bilston between the 1871 census when he is living
with parents Joseph & Jane at Barton's Building, Market Street and the 1881
census when he is lodging in Huntwick cum Nostell & Foulby in Yorkshire. He
is described as married in the 1881 census but there is no wife lodging with
him only what appears to be his father Joseph with him.
James marries Rayner TURNER a widow in the December qtr 1890 at Pontefract
reg district, vol 9c, page 234. Purchasing this marriage certificate will
corroborate that his father is the Joseph ROBINSON you suspect to be his
father and the one I have found in earlier census records.
In the 1881 census of Pontefract, Rayner is living with husband John TURNER,
also a Coal Miner, and children Sarah & Annie (presumably the Jane Ann
TURNER shown in the 1891 census record). There is a marriage registration
for a John TURNER in the September qtr 1872 at Pontefract reg district and
one of the other names on the page is that of a Rayner COTTERING.
James & Rayner ROBINSON are still in Castleford in the 1901 census but for
some reason I can't view the actual image on Ancestry so can't give you any
further details.
If you can confirm what information you already have and what exactly you
are trying to find out, I'm sure the list will be able to help further.
Janet
