Is anyone searching the following family? Does anyone know the maiden name
of Delilah (Mrs. Willis Stallings)? Francie Lane

WILLIS STALLINGS, was born c1740, the son of John and Juda Stallings. He
married Delilah _?_, in Edgecombe Co., NC, before 1779. Willis died by
November, 1803, Edgecombe Co., NC.
I am descended from his daughter:
Temperance Stallings, b. 16 Jan 1780, Edgecombe Co., NC
m. c1808, Edgecombe Co., NC to Exum WHITLEY,(1784-1840)
d. 24 May 1859, Smith Co., TN

EDGECOMBE CO., NC. WILL ABSTRACTS:
WILLIS STALLINGS: Inventory taken by Delilah Stallings, Admrx., Nov. 25,
1803, included 295 acres of land, Feb. Court 1804. Account of sale held by
the admrx., no date. Delilah Stallings was the principal buyer and
Temperance Stallings, John Stallings, Mills Stallings, and Thomas Stallings
bought, August Court 1805. Account current with the admrx., August Court
1805. Division of money arising from the estate among the
legal representatives. Five of them had received an advancement during the
lifetime of the deceased. The heirs were: Delilah Stallings, the Elder;
Temperance WHITLEY; Delilah Stallings, the Younger; John Stallings; Mills
Stallings; Thomas Stallings; Ann Whitley; Elizabeth JONES; and Milley LINCH.
October, 1805, November Court 1805.

Temperance WHITLEY, his wife; John LINCH & Milly LINCH, his wife, each of
Edgecombe Co., NC, sold to Peter ROBERTSON of Nash Co., NC for $600.00,
tract in Edgecombe Co., NC on south side of SWIFT CREEK and north side of
BEACH RUN - 295 ac., adj. James STALLINGS, Zachariah MANOR. Includes 200 ac
which had been deeded from John STALLINGS to Willis STALLINGS. Witnesses:
Frederick PHILIPS and (?M.A.T.) PHILIPS. /s/ Jonas(+)Whitley, Ann(+)Whitley,
Mills(M)Stallings, Thos.Stallings, Abraham JONES, Elizabeth(+)JONES, Exum
WHITLEY, Temperance (x) WHITLEY, John LINCH, Milly (+)LINCH.
Delilah(+)Stallings relinquished her dower rights. Edgecombe Co. Feb. Court
1806 - execution of deed acknowledged and feme coverts were privately
examined by Richard HARRISON, Esq. and all freely Relinquished their rights
in the premises. Test. Edward HALL, CC

Delilah (__) Stallings died in 1812 in Smith County, Tn. She left a will,
dated and proved in 1812 (Page 4), leaving her estate to her daughter
Delilah and son John Stallings.

EDGECOMBE CO., NC. WILLS:
JOHN STALLINGS - Will date December 31, 1779. Proved in August Court, 1780.
Residue to wife: JUDA STALLINGS, plantation and land, reversion to son:
Simon STALLINGS; sons: James STALLINGS, WILLIS STALLINGS, Executor, and John
STALLINGS - 5 Shillings each. Executor: Elisha STALLINGS. Witness: James
EDWARDS, Elisha STALLINGS.
