Hi,

I came across this message this evening. I know that Steve should be able
to fill in some details.

One thing that I find interesting is that we know that the grandfather of
Hannah Stedman was Isaac Stedman of Biddenden, Kent. Yet it is also known
that Robert Murdock was from Scotland. This suggests that his mother Mary
Elizabeth Stedman was from the Scottish branch of the family. Could this
imply that there was still contact between these two branches of the family
after a separation of at least 300 years???? Or had Jackson Murdock gone
to Kent and met the Stedmans there and was that in part why his son (or
sons) ended up in Boston?

ps: Steve, I now have a copy of the Murdock genealogy.

Subject: JACKSON MURDOCK, 1635, Scotland

Surname: MURDOCK, STEDMAN
-------------------------

Searching for ancestral/descendant info on the family of Jackson MURDOCK
(my 7th GG), b. 4 Jun 1635 in either Stirling, Stirlingshire or Ochiltree,
Ayershire, SCOTLAND. Mar. Mary Elizabeth STEDMAN abt 1664 in Stirling and
had either one or two sons (conflicting info). Son Robert MURDOCK, b 1663
in Stirling; mar Hannah STEDMAN 28 Apr 1692 in Roxbury, Massachusetts,
USA. Some sources indicate there was also a son John MURDOCK, b. abt 1665
in Stirling and also emmigrated to USA, but this is not proven. Any info
would be appreciated. Willing to trade info.
