Subject: [STEER] 1611 Steere Marriages in Surrey, England

I was looking through "The Dictionary of Genealogy" by Terrick V H FitzHugh, Third Edition 1988 and noticed a couple of STEEREs in the examples. On page 221 there is an image part of a page from "The marriage register of a Surrey (England) parish for the years 1609-21". There are two Steere entries for 1611: "George Steere and Joane Smalpeece were married in the Parish Church of St Saviours in Southwarke the 17th day of Aprill" and "John Wooden and Margerie Steere Widdow were married the 29th of July".
I found the first marriage on the IGI - British Isles, George Steere to Joan Smallpeece 17 Apr 1611 St Saviour's Church, Lancashire. It can't be Lancashire which is a north-eastern English county and I wonder why the IGI made this connection. Southwark is in London on the south side of the River Thames and would likely then to have been in the county of Surrey and in the south east of England.
The IGI has George and Joan as coming from Newdigate, Surrey which makes more sense. Newdigate maybe the parish used in the book's example as some of the people in the other marriages are from Capell, Horsham, Hoome, Charle(s)woode, Leigh, Reigate and Ockley which are all neighbouring or nearby parishes. Some of those parishes will be familiar to those researching the Steers in Surrey, England.
I couldn't find Margerie Steere's 1611 marriage on the IGI so this might be of use to someone.
Is anyone researching these Steeres? I'm not related to them but many those parishes are a only few minutes drive from my home and I'd be able to help with the local geography.
