I do not know whether this STARR is a STEER descendant or not. He lived in the general area where one might have expected descendents of the sixteenth century STERE/STAR family of Seaton and Beer to turn up. But this will is a good example of how a grandfather can try and ensure that family disputes continue, whilst at the same time expressing his displeasure at the behaviour of two of his grandsons.
There is no punctuation whatsoever in this piece and capital letters seem to have been sprayed around more or less at random.

This is the last Will and Testament of me William Starr of Widworthy in the County of Devon Yeoman which I make and publish this tenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty as follows I give my Granddaughter Susannah the daughter of my late deceased Daughter Susannah the sum of twenty five pounds to be paid within one year of my decease and I give my grandson Henry the son of my late deceased Daughter the sum of Nineteen Guineas to be paid him within one year after he shall be discharged from or otherwise exempted from any liability to be or remain in his Majesty's Service and provided he shall be so exempted or discharged in his lifetime otherwise the said sum of Nineteen Guineas shall not become vested nor be paid or payable And I give my Grandson William another son of my late deceased Daughter the sum of Nineteen Guineas in case he my said grandson his heirs executors or administrators or other the person or persons rightfully claiming!
or entitled through or under him shall make or execute an effectual and satisfactory conveyance or other assurance right title estate and interest whether legal equitable or otherwise as he or they may have claim or be entitled to in out of upon or respecting a certain messuage tenement and heriditaments situate in the parish of Churchstanton in the said County of Devon (and which I sold and conveyed in fee simple upwards of fifty years ago to Edmund Valentine now deceased) unto my Executor hereinafter named his Heirs Executors administrators or assigns or as he she or they shall direct or require upon having such Conveyance or Assurance tendered to him or them and it is my will that until such Conveyance or assurance shall be made and executed as aforesaid then said last mentioned Legacy of Nineteen Guineas shall not be vested nor be paid or payable And I give my Great Grandson John the son of my aforesaid Grandson William the sum of Five Pounds if he shall attain the age!
of twenty one years and in such case to be paid him on his attainment to that age I also give to John Starr the natural son of my late sister Joan the sum of Five Pounds to be paid within one year of my decease and all my messuages lands tenements and heriditaments whether freehold Copyhold Leasehold or otherwise and also all the rest and remainder of my Goods Chattels Monies Rights Credits and personal estate and effects whatsoever I give devise and bequeath unto my grandson James another son of my late deceased daughter Susannah his heirs executors administrators and assigns for his and their own use and benefit according to the nature or respective nature therof But subject to the payment of my Debts funeral expenses and before mentioned legacies And I (text unclear?) and appoint my said grandson James Executor of this my will In Witness whereof I have set my hand and seal the day and year first hereinbefore written

William STARR died 1st May 1836
Will proved in the Archdeacons Court of Exeter the 19th May 1836 and the estate certified as being below £200 in value.
