William,

>Sandoft might be Sandtoft it was not very clear.

It is and sometimes seen as Stan(d)(t)oft.

I found a couple of other wills in one of my old boxes. I thought that I'd
just taken extracts but I have copies though quality is a problem, the
Lincolnshire Archives photocopier must have been short of toner that day.

They are the wills of Robert Steer and then of his widow Elizabeth
(POPPLEWELL), parents of Richard Popplewell Steer.

Robert's will is difficult not only is the copy faint but the page is dark
especially towards the top, also it is one of those wide wills which has
been photocopied on to three sheets, each line of the will scans all three
sheets. He was of Belton and what I have extracted so far is that his wife
was Elizabeth, his son Richard, brother Charles and sisters Ann, Jane,
Elizabeth and Mary.
Signed 8th August 1771
Proved 1774

Elizabeth's will is easier.
Elizabeth Steer of Sandtoft in the County of Lincoln widow
Sister Catherine Johnson the wife of Alan Johnson Esq
Only son Richard Ryther Poplewell Steer
Godson Thomas Johnson the younger of Crowle
Ann Clark of Belton singlewoman
Henrietta Poplewell Daughter of Mr Humphrey Poplewell deceased
Dated 29 February 1780
Proved 28 March 1780

John Steer, Dorking, England
