I am wondering along with Betty-Anne if this information on the daughter of
Michael Steer, could very well be two daughters, and not one?

Betsy Cowle Steer is the daughter born in 1793 in Aveton Gifford. But this
couple, Michael and Mary Elliot Steer seemed to have had a child every two
years:

Betsy Cowle Steer 1793
Michael Steer 1794
Richard Steer 1798
Ann Steer 1801
William Steer 1803
Mary Steer 1805
Jane Steer 1807
Josias Steer 1809

Is it possible that the Elizabeth Bonneford mentioned in the father's Will,
was not Betsy Cowle, but another daughter born between Michael and Richard,
when there is a four year gap?

The dates and children's names where found for me by a very though
researcher, and I would be surprised to find he might have missed a birth,
but he would be the first to say it could have happened. The family had the
first two children in Aveton Gifford, then moved to Plymouth, by 1798 for
the birth of Richard and all the others. Could there have been a stop
somewhere else along the way, in which Elizabeth had been born?

One of the uneasy thoughts to this 'theory' is Betsy Cowle is not listed in
the Will of her father, just Elizabeth. Where as Betsy could have passed
away, before the will was written? Could she still be the mother of Michael
Steer Williams?

This Micheal Steer Williams is listed on the 1841 census as living on
Lambhay Hill, although there are a number of Steer's residing on this
street, as did their father, but who he is living with is not known. I only
know he is not with either Richard or Josiahs Steer's and their families.
Just to confuse matters further there is also another William Steer,
Fisherman, also 16 years old living on Lambhay Hill, this copy of the
extract is very badly degraded to try and read, so its impossible to read
who he is living with or on his own.

Room for thought? Much room needed to prove, if this is possible.

Best regards from Linda
