Subject: Philip Steer, Westerham Kent 1854, ?death in Eccleshall, 1927

My father has given me the information that Philip Steer, born in Westerham
1854 died in Dobcross, Yorkshire (Saddleworth district) in 1927.
As he is in his 80's now, and he did not know his grandfather well, I take
it that this may be incorrect.
I found Philip's birth certificate, date 31 March 1854, Huddocks, Westerham.
I went to Liverpool Records Office recently, trawled through several images
of deaths registered between 1920 and 1930 with no success. no likely
Philip(or William)Steer death in Saddleworth. However, with the new Ancestry
BMD image service, I was able to go through them all again, in better
conditions.
This time I have found the following

William Steer aged 72, Eccleshall B
Mar qtr 1927 Vol 9c p574

This would be the correct age for Philip/William, but no known connectios to
Eccleshall.
Philip did use the name of William on occasions, so my question to the list
is, does anyone know of any other Steer families in Eccleshall district of
Staffordshire, to either refute this record as unlikely, or to give credence
to it, perhaps children of Philip settled in the area?
His children were
John William Steer c 1877, Shipley, last seen in Carnforth 1901
George Steer c 1878, Distington, last seen in Dobcross 1891
Eliza Steer c 1880, Egremont, last seen in Dobcross 1903, marriage to
William Penketh Newton
Mary Ann Steer c 1882 Barrow in Furness, last seen definitely in Dobcross
1901, may have married Castle, Herbert or Lord, Henry in 1903
Alice Steer c 1884 Mossley, last seen in Dobcross 1901
Agnes Steer 20 Aug 1890 Dobcross, last seen Dobcross 1901
James Albert Steer 27 Sep 1895 Dobcross, my grandfather, settled in Gosport,
Hampshire and Chatham, Kent
Lily Steer 23 May 1900 Dobcross, last seen Dobcross 1901
Hoping that someone can tell me more
Margaret
