May I take Steer seekers back to Devon again?

South Devon Steers:

I have been trying to establish the origins of the William Steer who
married Grace Spinney (or Spinhay?) in Modbury in November 1799.

One possibility is that he was the son of William Steer and Anne Daw (or
Dawe) who married in Ringmore (by Kingsbridge) near Modbury on 7th
December 1774. This William Steer was from Bigbury Parish according to
the Banns published in the Register at Ringmore.

The descendents of William and Grace down as far as my wife'as
grandmother are as follows:

WIILIAM and GRACE STEER (nee SPINNEY) of Modbury, Devon were married
by banns on 17^th November 1799 by W Stackhouse.

Children of WILLIAM AND GRACE STEER were:

i) ELIZABETH STEER christened 14 September 1800 in Modbury.; died 29
November 1801
ii) WILLIAM STEER christened 2 May 1802 and married MARY WINSOR on 1
September 1822.
iii) ELIZABETH STEER christened 1 April 1804
iv) THOMAS STEER christened 21 May 1809 and married ELIZABETH GEE on 8
March 1833
v) ANN STEER christened 8 December 1811
vi) GEORGE STEER christened 29 May 1814 and married AMELIA TIPPET on 26
June 1835

WILLIAM STEER, christened in Modbury on 2 May 1802 , son of WILLIAM and
GRACE STEER married MARY WINSOR 1 September 1822.

Children of WILLIAM AND MARY STEER were:

i) WILLIAM STEER christened 21 August 1825 in Modbury.
ii) GEORGE STEER
iii) AGNES STEER
iv) ELIZABETH STEER
v) FANNY STEER

WILLIAM STEER, christened in Modbury on 21 August 1825, married MARY
BATH of Sandy Cove on 28 March 1847 at St Andrew’s. Plymouth.

Children of WILLIAM AND MARY STEER were:

i) WILLIAM STEER born in 1851 and married SELINA???, he emigrated to
Calgary
ii) GEORGE STEER born in 1854
iii) AGNES STEER born in 1856
iv) JAMES STEER who was born in Modbury on 26^th August 1857
v) MARTHA STEER born about 1860 and probably died before 1871
vi) HENRY STEER born in 1862 moved to Bristol
vii) ELIZABETH STEER born in 1866
viii) FANNY STEER born in 1871
viii) CAROLINE STEER born in 1874

JAMES STEER, born in Modbury on 26^th August 1857, married ANN LOUISA
MARSH on 9 February 1879 at Trinity Church, Plymouth.

Children of JAMES AND ANN LOUISA STEER were:

i) JAMES ROBERT STEER, born 31 May 187
ii) LILY ISABELLA STEER, born 21 September 1881
iii) SIDNEY ALBERT STEER born 18^th February 1884
iv) ROSIE MAY STEER, born 28 February 1886
v) DAISY ALICE STEER. born 26 July 1888
vi) WILLIAM HENRY COURTNEY STEER, born 20^th March 1890
vii) BESSIE VIOLET STEER, born 4 July 1892 (GRO Plymouth 5b 252)

I would be grateful to learn whether anyone can establish the link
between William Steer of Bigbury who married in Ringmore (by
Kingsbridge) near Modbury on 7th December 1774 and William Steer who
married in Modbury in November 1799

Suggestions for further research possibilities would also be welcomed.
