Jack and Jill,

I have looked at this census and have found 10 'STEER' entries.

1) Amos STEER, listed by Jack below

2) William STEER, M, 45, Army, E, (born England)
3) Lucy STEER, F, 35, N (not born on Jersey)
4) Fanny STEER, F, 12, N
5) Frederick STEER, M, 11, N
6) Henrietta STEER, F, 6, N
7) Letitia STEER, F, 4, E
Address Burleigh House, Trinity Road, St Helier, Jersey
Class: HO107;Piece 1461; Folio: 8; Page: 9

8) James STEER as listed by Jack

James BIGSLEY, M, 30, Inn Keeper, E
Ann BIGSLEY, F, 25, E
William BIGSLEY, M, 5, Y (Born on Jersey)
Elizabeth Bigsley, F, 3, Y
James BIGSLEY, M 3 mths, Y
9) Ann STEER, 15, F, FS, E, listed by Jack
10) Grace STEER, aged 50, Independent, E
Address Commercial Buildings, St Helier, Jersey
Class: HO107; Piece 1461; Folio: 38; Page: 16

Does look like BIGSLEY rather than PUGSLEY, but with Grace STEER mentioned as well as Ann STEER and Ann BIGSLEY, age 25, I think you are on the right tracks, Jill

(Could PUGSLEY be BIGSLEY?!)

1851 census shows James PUGSLEY 40, Ann 39, Elizabeth 12, James 10, Eliza 7, Edwin 3, Sarah G 1, plus 2 serants and 2 lodgers
