I still think it is the right family. I had a look at the writing too and
it is a B but the Devonian accent could have had something to do with it as
I think it was written by someone other than James Pugsley (the writing was
the same for everyone) and everything else fits so well. The Grace makes me
even more convinced that Ann (Steer) Pugsley was the daughter of William
Steer and Grace Spinney.
I hope I am right
