Dean,

<It's great to see you are back in full swing again>

Thank you, but it really isn't full swing, probably about half swing

You asked

<Any current thoughts?>

I can't find a copy or transcription of the 1847 marriage certificate. Could
you pass one on please? I don't know, but it is just possible that there
could be witnesses or something that might provide a new line of enquiry.

I've checked directories and so on for Garton on the Wolds and they didn't
help at all. And I still don't understand why George would have moved to
East Yorkshire from Surrey to marry.

Just thought, I wonder if there was a religious connection. His obituary
does talk about "Brother STEER was converted to God in his native land when
he was 21 years of age" about the time of his marriage.

Regards,

Jack Steer
