I welcome the suggestions and discussions about our list and Steer
resources. I have no technical answers myself, as I am still lumbering
along with my elderly iMac on OS 8.1, which I use mainly as a capacious word
processor.

I have over the years tried to contribute transcriptions of old documents,
mainly wills, which have come to me through the kindness and financial help
of others. But in more recent times I feel that we have perhaps become
less disciplined in quoting our sources precisely. We often used to put
MI or PRs or other abbreviations against an entry to authenticate it. If
we are to share Resources, then we should take care over Sources too.

I will only add that I would appreciate a greater use of scissors to snip
over long "replies", which sometimes go as far as six or seven exchanges and
in as many changes of colour.
My moans are now over ! I have so much enjoyed the good feeling
generated by our exchanges of information, affection, disagreement and
general co-operation. Thank you all.

As ever,

Philip
