Thanks for your help Jenny.

I'm not at all sure that we can make much more progress with Francis Codd
STEERE and Grace.

I can't find any further references to Francis Codd STEERE that suggest that
he was parish clerk or held some other post in the village. Nor am I aware
of any children.

Although the possibility of Francis having some official duties is an
attractive thought, it does seem that all the marriages for which he signed
were connected in some way, except perhaps that of John TOPE and Elizabeth
PHILLIPS.

You'd think that as I am a BROOKING, CODD, STEER and TOPE descendant I
should know more about this lot. Afraid I can find nothing that helps solve
this query.
