I am seeking information on the Stewart families of Westerly, RI. I am
lead to understand that a Lt. William Stewart migrated from Westerly to
Stonington, Ct. about 1699 and the family then to New London, Ct.. I have
been told that there is talk that Alexander Stewart who appeared in
Plainfield, Ct. in 1728 came probably from New London and therefore was
Probably related to the Westerly, RI Stewarts. I would appreciate hearing
from anyone with information on this family.
