Hi Bill,
The notation that Alexander's father was James is based on continual
speculation all through the SCM series, which is why there is a ? in the
index (s.James/--?) -- I had to put it after the possible wife or else it
wouldn't have indexed properly. Edson tried to link Alexander with the
James Stewart who came over on the 'Fortune' and disappeared from the
records after only one notation in 1624. Most people assume he either died
or went back, but of course there is always the possibility that he struck
out somewhere beyond the authority of the Massachusetts Colony. Hence the
attempt to link all the other early Stewarts with him. The best I can
suggest is that you read all the references to James and Alexander, which
will explain the theory.
