Hello Verne,
I can't differentiate between fact or fiction here, but I'd scour the
American records before trying to jump the ocean. In any case trying to
find an Alexander Stewart in Scotland would have to be a million times worse
than trying to find one in America!
My source is the Stewart Clan Magazine, and unfortunately there is no
reference there for Louisa Mallett, so I doubt he's there. The only thing I
can suggest is to check all the places you know of in the Index of Places
and you just might come up with something; at least a family in the right
area. Have you checked out the website http://users.hol.gr/~mkyritsi/ ?
That's where I have all the Indexes, so have a look. If you have a FHS near
you, you can order the microfilms from Salt Lake City. Check out the page
that has libraries that have the full run of the SCM.
Best regards,
Mary

had 6 children:

Harlan eade, my GGrandfather; Rufus (5) and Fletcher (1). Louisa's and
Alexanders marriage date was Sept. 6 1841 and therefore, it can be presumed
that Harriet, A.B. and Clay were children of a prior marriage of ine or the
other. 1850 Census shows Alexander's birthplace as Ohio. The only
Alexander Stewart I have come across (BLM Land Records) shows an Alexander
receiving an Land Patent in Wooster, Wayne County, Ohio in 1825. Also,
there was an Alexander born in 1805 in Scotland. As you can well imagine, I
am trying to confirm or discredit any of these leads. I that you appear to
have done extensive research in Ohio Stewarts, I would ask if you recognize
any of the above "fact or fiction".
