Hi Alton,
This family is in the Stewart Clan Magazine; check out my website
http://users.hol.gr/~mkyritsi/ for my indexes to this series of magazines
that came out between 1922 and 1970. There are also pages which will give
you the names of libraries which hold the whole series; you can also order
the microfilms from the LDS.
Alexander is assumed to have been the son of James Stewart and his wife
Keziah Scoville of East Haddam CT. James was the son of Alexander, who was
in New London in 1720, and he settled in Voluntown CT while some of his sons
located in East Haddam. He is supposed to have come from Ballymena, Co.
Antrim, Ireland; there was a large influx of Ulster-Scots from the
Ballymena/Coleraine area of Ulster at that time. Most of the Stewarts in
the northern states stopped off in Ulster on their way to America. It's
just about impossible to trace them back to Scotland, I'm afraid, but we who
are in that boat can then lay claim to the whole country! :)

Father was born in Scotland. I'm so desparately trying to find what part of
Scotland my Heritage comes from. Hoping that I may someday know my true
coat of arms and Tartan colors. Once that is in hand I will try to go even
farther back into time in search of my blood line.
