Hi all,
I am searching for any leads on William Stewart, b. abt. 1837, married
Sarah Ellen Hyden 10 Apr 1861, Hempstead Co., Ark. He fought for Co. H
17 Ark Inf., CSA, and died during the war in a Little Rock Hospital. He
and Sarah had one son, Alexander Stewart (possibly James Alexander) b.
16 Jan 1862, Little Rock, Pulaski, Ark. Sarah took Alexander to Hill
Co., Texas sometime around William's death.
Alexander married Sarah Jane Bullard in Texas and their children were:
Monroe, Dovey, Raymond Elvis, Ralph B., Dennis Berton, Tennie, Dollie,
Homer, and Willie.
William may have come to Arkansas from Texas, according to family
stories. He does not appear in the 1860 Hempstead Co. census, and I
have yet to find his son on a census record. Can anyone help?
