Hi Sherma,

I can help a little bit on this. In the Stewart Clan Magazine there is
a very short paragraph on this family on page H101, from the issue of
July 1960 (vol. 38, No. 1), submitted by a subscribe, Mrs J. L. Rogers
of Crockett, Texas. Here it is in its entirety, though from the
information you have it seems to me you may already know all this:

"Charles Eli Stewart, whose birthplace and parentage are unknown, was
living in Rankin county, Mississipi in 1822 when his son Charles
Granville Stewart was born. He died early, and his widow, whose name is
not remembered, remarried. The children disliked their stepfather and
left home as soon as they were able. Children:
Charles Granvlle, b. 11 May 1822, m. ca 1842 Mary Brummett
Sarah Catherine, b. ca 1824, m. 17 Sep 1844 James Alexander Cliborn
William
Daniel B., b. ca 1832, went to Texas with his brother Charles G.
Mary?
James?

Charles Granville probably moved to Arkansas with some of his kinsmen.
He married in that state about 1842 Mary Brummett. Their son Charles
Eli was born in Arkansas on 20 July 1845, and the family subsequently
removed to Texas. Charles Eli and Mary (Brummett) Stewart were the
parents of Charles Eli, b. 26 June 1879, in Texas, who was the father of
Charles Mertell Stewart, born 20 July 1903."

None of this family appeared elsewhere in the Magazine I'm afraid, so no
further research was contributed.
